About Us
Compliance Runners exists to give NSW certifiers the inspection capacity they need to scale confidently, whilst simultaneously protecting standards and meeting turnaround targets, all without requiring internal hiring, training, and restructuring. Our team is qualified and experienced to provide the inspections you need.
Why we do It
The National Housing Accord (NHA) in Australia has set an ambitious long term goal in 2024 for the construction of 1.2 million homes to be built by the year 2029, this would mean 240,000 homes every year for the following 5 years since 2024. In 2025 the number of dwellings completed was only ~172,000, which proves the unlikely completion of the abitious goal. Further on, Australia has never developed such a number of houses in any one year. The closest ever recorded was ~223,600 in 2017 - 7 years prior to the setting of the NHA’s long term goal.
One problem that was found, that seemed to be common between all of the building practices and processes were the delays in the site inspecting and building certifying industry. These delays were because of how the growth of supply for certifiers could not keep up with the rate of growth for the demand of residential development. This disparity between the supply and demand sought a few, but key building requirements delayed:
Longer wait times for reviews
Delays in issuing Construction Certificates (CCs)
Delays in issuing Occupation Certificates (OCs)
Less availability, all round the certifying sector, for mandatory inspections.
Compliance Runners opts to spread the workload from overworked certifier firms towards external site inspectors in order to minimise these delays vital for the building industry, thus maximising building effiency to help further close the gap on the NHA’s goal of 1.2 million homes by 2029. This will all be acheived without further increasing the costs of operating for certification firms, while also creating more opportunities for quilified site inspectors to fill their calendars, build their professional reputation and generate additional income through flexible, project-based work.
Exposure
In March 2026, we were invited by the National Planning Institute of Australia (PIA) to deliver a lecture as part of its 75th Anniversary. Our presentation focused entirely on the concept behind our business, with the theme of "Inspiring young planners with an innovative business idea to support Australia's planning reforms and housing targets."
It is also important to note that every attendee was an active member of some consulting, planning or compliance firm. Many of which have been active in their occupation for decades. So for all means considered, every person in attendance was very knowledgeable in their field with exceptional experience.
The response to our lecture exceeded our expectations. We had attracted a larger than anticipated audience and generated strong engagement, with attendees asking thoughtful questions about how our business model could be applied to a range of unique, real-world scenarios. The positive reception reinforced our belief that there is a genuine need for innovative solutions that support the planning and certification industry.
Below is our presentation slides we made for the event at PIA canberra.
